MILWAUKEE (August 16, 2016) – On August 27, a fleet of boats captained by Milwaukee-area boat owners will cruise the waves of Lake Michigan with a guest of honor onboard – a Wish child. These boats will host children and their families as part of Yacht Blast for Kids, a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

The event returns on August 27, 2016 for its eighth year of lifting the spirits of children and granting wishes through After Blast. As part of Yacht Blast for Kids, Wish children and their families will join local boat owners at the Milwaukee Yacht Club for an afternoon of fun and sun when they take a boat ride on Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River. As the sun sets, the public is invited to support Yacht Blast for Kids and Make-A-Wish® with After Blast, an entertainment-packed celebration, including a fireworks display sponsored by Bartolotta Fireworks, aimed to raise funds to support the organization’s wish granting efforts.

Since its beginning in 2009, Yacht Blast for Kids has granted more than 165 wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. This event has a tremendous impact on the children and their families.

“On August 27, we have the chance to give these wonderful children and their families the opportunity to have some fun out on Lake Michigan,” said Glenn Kennedy, founder of Yacht Blast for Kids. “What’s more, we’re able to continue that fun with the general public through After Blast, where we have a great time raising money thanks to the support of our generous local sponsors, and great silent and voice auctions.”

The After Blast event, located at the Milwaukee Yacht Club, is open to the public from 4 to 11 p.m. Guests can participate in both silent and voice auctions, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin. Elliot From, of Artbeat Live, will showcase his abstract expressionist performance art during the event. Additionally, guests can enjoy live music from local artists including The Screamin’ Cucumbers, Jeff Walski, and Live at Nine. The evening will come to a close with a fireworks show sponsored by Bartolotta Fireworks.

General Admission tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Dinner packages are $50.

About Yacht Blast for Kids

Yacht Blast for Kids was founded by Glenn Kennedy, chief operating officer of Inpro Corporation, in 2009. Aiming to provide a day of fun for Wish children and their families, Milwaukee yacht owners spend the afternoon with a family on their boats. At night, the public comes together to celebrate After Blast and raise funds for Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin. Yacht Blast has grown each year since its inception. The event raised $240,000 in 2015 for donation to Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin. Yacht Blast for Kids has helped to grant more than 165 wishes to date, with an amazing ratio of 84 cents of every dollar going to Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin.
